I did this piece for an art collection being put together called Monster Mash Anthology ([link]) of classic monsters doing ordinary things. It's a super cool concept, and since she just extended the deadline, I think more people can still submit!

My original idea (and to those who know me this will be no shocker) was to do the Yeti, but I couldn't come up with an activity for him that would be visually interesting. The Blob, and his feast, just popped in my head, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Though it was a challenge thinking up all those truck stop diner specialties.

Drawn and inked by hand, grayscaling on PS.

Great idea. I always figured these monsters had a lot of down time between bouts of havoc-wreaking and destruction.

Thanks! A monster's life must be a stressful life -- I figure whatever extra time they have in between the havoc-wreaking and escaping the planes and pitchforks should be spent in deep relaxation or enjoyment. Diner food!

Thanks! I've come to like The Blob.

Hey, it's even got a '50s diner, like in the original Blob movie! Though that waitress looks more out of the '70s, with an unmistakable Pam Grierishness to her.

Was it like in the movie? Cool! Unintentional authenticity! The waitress I just drew in because I love girls with afros. Pam included.
