People wonder why people don't like change..
being railroaded into focusing your life on one goal and then inevitably finding it no longer exists... that's pretty much everything now. XD

You're preaching to the choir with me. I've been writing (novel-length) stories since I was 12, and all I've ever wanted was to be published. I came close when I was 18, but they wanted me to pay them to publish my book. Even back then, I know it wasn't supposed to be like that. I've been writing non-stop since I was nine, and no matter what my daily life is like at work, I know I'll always do it. Even if I never publish anything.

I know it'll happen one day, and I have a good job now to sustain me. But until I do the one thing I've always wanted to do, I know I'll never be happy.

But you're an awesome artist. Your time will come! Just you wait. :-)

That's ... so sad it makes me kinda wanna cry. If it makes you feel any better, I've been through so many failed dreams I've started to lose count. And I'm plugging away at webcomics only because it beats my original love, writing. See, with the wonderful world of writing, you spend years crafting your novel in order to get ... exactly zero people read it. Like, zero. That got depressing after the fifth novel. So now I do webcomics. At least somebody's reading. Sometimes.

I feel you there. I write as well, always have, and you're right, you spend so long working on a thing and no one wants to read it. I found that more people were willing to read a short and funny comic than anything remotely longer or thought-provoking than that. Hang in!

Exactly. And to be honest, I pretty much refuse to read any prose I see on dA. The internet is a medium that suits the visual, I think. I gotta communicate in one minute punches to the brain, or nothing.

It's so rude to butt in, but I have to tell you I agree. I've been a voracious reader since I was four, started writing soon after that, and yet I so rarely read anything here. The art is so much prettier and takes less time (theoretically speaking). If I want to read, I hit up my library or my bookshelves, not the internets. And I do love webcomics ever so much...
