Claymate: Frida Kahloby ~elephantblue

Traditional Art / Sculpture / Figurative

Not long ago, I did this little clay toy of Frida Kahlo for the My Little Historicals series of toys for my shop: [link] . I like her a lot and she still needs a good home.

Sculpting random junk is always fun, but I find I like the challenge of sculpting historical figures, and she was a lot of fun. Of course, it was always her goal to be true to herself in her art, to represent herself exactly as she was in self-portraits, and in that way, she was a hugely brave voice in women's art. The skulls I added just for fun.

Those are the cutest little skulls this side of Mexico. Or, uh, THAT side of Mexico. I think you're on the other side. Well, really, I guess it depends on where we'd set the bisecting line.
